Thank You, Mom! Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, to all you moms!

This could be quite different than most Mother's Day messages, and I certainly don't promise a Hallmark Card. 

Every single person on God's green Earth was born from a woman, a mother. She is to be honored and respected, simply because she gave birth to you. God says so! 

“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” Deuteronomy 5.16

There is something in the whole big picture of things that is very important in this. This has to do with the heart and soul of life itself. It has to do with everything spiritual. Love. Forgiveness. Respect. Honor. 

Your mother helped give you life. But it is God who creates life. It is no accident of physics. It is a part of God's creation of which He is still the Creator. Life cannot happen except He allows it and continues to provide the spark-spirit-substance-connection that makes life, life. It is a mystery that scientists will likely never unravel and understand. 

Your mom likely didn't “plan” to have you. And if she did, she probably didn't “plan” to have YOU!!!

She had to take what she got, and it was YOU! And most likely, something supernatural kicked in to make her be a “mom” to you. If you didn't have a “good” mom, I am sorry for you. But you still got LIFE. Did she do her “best” in being your mom? I doubt it. I don't know if anyone can say that they honestly did their "best" in raising their kids, or doing anything! We try, and we do what we do, as mothers or fathers. 

So, why honor your mother? 

SIMPLY BUT IMPORTANTLY - BECAUSE GOD SAYS SO!

There is something incredible about the relationship between a mother who carries a little baby from conception to its entry into the world outside her body. I can only barely relate, as I am the father-person. But I have seen birth four times close up, as I was there for the birth of four of my children. How incredible!

I was also present for the passing of my own mother, and it is very much a similar experience. It is surreal and spiritual. It is indescribable! It puts you in touch with the very heart of life itself. God Himself is right there with you. It takes the rest of your life to process. 

Did you have a “good” mom? Was she horrible? Did she love you? Or did she mistreat you horribly? 

No matter! She was your mom! Love her, forgive her (if she needs it), respect her. 

HONOR YOU MOM!

I am sure God wants every mom to do her best. Whether or not she does, He still commands each of us to “Honor your father and mother…” 

It has to do with before and after, past and future. You might not have had the best parents, but how will YOU be as a parent? Will you do your best? Will you make any mistakes or missteps? Will you be perfect? I would guess probably not. But will you love your kids? Yes. Perfectly? Probably not.

Life goes on……………

God bless you mothers of the world! It is often a thankless job. Keep doing your part. Strive to do your best. Get back at it when you fail.
